STORMWATER MANAGEMENT
The Village of Swanton is part of the Ohio EPA’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) program. This means that stormwater runoff flows directly into our streams and rivers without any filtration or treatment. As a result, pollutants such as pesticides, nutrients from lawns and gardens, oil, grease, toxic chemicals, litter, debris, sediment, and pet waste can enter our storm sewers and drains.
To address this, the Village is required to develop and implement a Stormwater Management Plan (SWMP). This plan outlines strategies to preserve, protect, and enhance the water quality in Swanton.
